Boat capsizes in flood water, two including medical student dead

Two students, including a medical student, have died as a boat capsized in the flood water in Jhenaigati upazila of Sherpur district on Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred at around 11:00am in Gazarmari Beel of South Kanduli village under the upazila. Six people were also injured in the incident.
The deceased are Mosharraf Hossain Milton, 21, son of Md Surhab Ali from South Kanduli village and a third-year student at Rangpur Medical College; and Amanullah (21), son of Md Abu Sayed Sada Mia from the same area and a second-year honors student at Sherpur Tinani Govt College.
According to locals, the duo along with other six friends rented a boat to have a leisure trip. While they were having fun, the boat lost balance and capsized, submerging all eight friends.
Locals rushed there hearing their screams for help and rescued them. They were taken to a local hospital, where doctors declared two dead.
MP from Sherpur-3 ADM Shahidul Islam visited the spot.
Jhenaigati Police Station inspector Iskandar Habibur Rahman confirmed the incident, adding that legal actions will be taken in this regard.
