Sylhet district administration has reopened several tourist spots, including Jaflong and Ratargul Swamp Forest, to visitors following improvements in the flood situation.
The decision was taken on Sunday (June 23).
Earlier, a team led by Gowainghat assistant commissioner (land) Saidul Islam inspected tourist spots twice on Friday and Saturday.
The water level in Sylhet's rivers has started to decrease gradually. As a result, flood water has started receding in many areas of the district. People who stayed with their families in shelters in those areas have started returning home.
Gowainghat upazila administration sources said that all boat owners and operators were instructed to provide adequate life jackets for passengers to ensure their safety while traveling the tourists’ areas.
Touhidul Islam, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO), said the tourist spots have been reopened based on some conditions.
