3 drown in Padma River in Padma

Three children, including two brothers, drowned while bathing in the Padma River at Sadar upazila of Pabna district on Monday noon (June 24).

The deceased were known as Sabbir Hossain, 24, Siam Hossain, 10, sons of Alal Pramanik, and Nur Hossain, 10, son of Islam Sardar.

Locals said that a group of children, including the trio, had been attempting to hang an Argentine flag from a mango tree near their home around 1 pm. After being advised against it due to the midday heat, the three victims along with another left the tree and headed to the river to take a bath. At one stage, the three kids drowned around 2:00 pm.

Later, they were taken to Pabna General Hospital where duty doctor declared them.

Pabna Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rawshan Ali confirmed the matter.
