AL leader commits suicide over loan in Noakhali

A local Awami League leader has committed suicide allegedly for failing to pay loan and his poverty in Senbagh upazila in Noakhali.
The deceased was known as Kamal Uddin Mazumdar, 65, son of late Salim Uddin Mazumdar. He was Awami League president of Kesharpar union’s ward number 1.
Senbagh police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazim Uddin said Kamal Uddin was a farmer. He was also ward Awami League president. Writing a six-page-long letter, he committed suicide on Monday night. In the letter, he blamed poverty and pressure of loan for his suicide.
On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Noakhali general hospital for autopsy, OC.
Kesharpar union Awami League president Md Belal Bhuyian said I went to the spot after getting the death news. The family was supported by his earning only. He committed suicide due to the stress of loan.
