4 death row convicts in Bogura arrested hours after they escape jail

Four death row convicts were arrested this morning (June 26) several hours after they escaped from the Bogura Central Jail late last night by drilling a hole on the roof.

District Superintendent of Police (SP) Sudip Kumar Chakraborty disclosed the information at a press conference held around 10:15 am on Wednesday (June 26).

He said, “All the four are death-row convicts in different murder cases. They broke out of jail late last night by crossing over a wall through a leak in the roof.”

Drives were conducted soon after their escape from jail and the convicts were arrested from Chashi Bazar area of Bogura Sadar upazila, the SP said.

The convicts are Nazrul, 60, of Kurigram, Amir Hamza, 41, of Narsingdi, Zakaria, 34, and Farid Sheikh, 30, of Bogura, he said.

A six-member investigation committee has been formed over the incident.
