No political pressure in MP Anar murder: DB Chief

Harun-or-Rashid, chief of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said there is no political pressure in the murder case of MP Anwarul Azim Anar.

The DB chief said this after inspecting the mobile phone recovery task at a pond in Payra Chattar area of Jhenaidah on Wednesday noon (June 26).

He said that if there was pressure then it would not have been possible to achieve so much in a short period of time. We could not have arrested three people from Dhaka in such a quick time. We have already arrested five people. Four of them provided statement before the court under section 164.

Harun-or-Rashid also said that a total of seven people took part in the killing. We have managed to arrest five of them. No innocent people will be harassed and no one involved in the murder case will be spared.

Earlier, a team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) started drives by surrounding a pond in Payra Chattar area of Jhenaidah to recover three mobile phones used by Awami League (AL) leader Kazi Kamal Ahmed alias Gas Babu who was a suspect in a case filed over the abduction of Jhenaidah-4 MP Anwarul Azim Anar for murder.
