6 to walk gallows for killing social worker in Cumilla

A Comilla court has convicted six people and sentenced them to death in a case filed over killing a social worker named Nurul Haque centering land dispute.

Cumilla additional district and session judge justice Md Jahangir Hossain passed the order on Wednesday noon (June 26).

Jakir Hossain, lawyer of the plaintiff, said there were 22 accused in the murder case. Later, investigation officer submitted charge-sheet mentioning 20 names.

Shariful Islam, son of the victim said the accused beat my father to death when he was returning home on the evening of 17 February 2011. We are happy after hearing the court verdict.
