Deputy Speaker falls sick suddenly, taken to Dhaka by helicopter

Heroic freedom fighter Advocate Shamsul Huq Tuku, deputy speaker of Jatiya Sangsad and lawmaker from Pabna-1 constituency, has been flown to Dhaka by a helicopter for urgent treatment.

He was flown to Dhaka from Abdul Khaleque Stadium in Bera of Pabna at about 3:30pm on Friday (June 28) by a helicopter of Bangladesh Navy.

Bera Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Morshedul Islam confirmed the news.

At around 11:00am, Shamsul Huq Tuku attended the inauguration ceremony of a tree plantation programme at Bipin Bihari Pilot High School ground in Bera as the chief guest.

Following the inauguration, he was taking preparations to plant saplings at ‘Nouka Chattar’, adjacent to his own home. At that time, he suddenly fell sick. 

Immediately, he was taken to Bera Upazila Health Complex. Later, he was flown to Dhaka for better treatment by a helicopter of Bangladesh Navy.
