Maritime posts asked to hoist signal 3

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal No 3 as the low-pressure area over Northwest Bay and adjoining coastal areas persist.

It has been raining continuously since Monday (July 1) morning in Patuakhali. The Meteorological Office fears that stormy winds will blow through the coastal areas.

According to the BMD, southwest monsoon is strong over north bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh. Under its influence, deep convection is taking place and steep pressure gradient lies over the north bay. 

All fishing boats and trawlers over north Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.

Patuakhali district weather office acting official Mahbuba Sukhi said rainfall may continue over coastal areas during the next 72 hours.
