3 missing after boat sinks in Surma River

Three people went missing after a boat sank in the Surma River due to strong currents in Doarabazar upazila of Sunamganj on Tuesday.

The missing individuals are identified as Jotsna Begum, 35, Gulo Bibi, 70, and one-year-old child Moina Mia.

Doarabazar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Badrul Hasan said that the boat, carrying seven passengers, sank near Azampur Kheyaghat in the Doarabazar upazila in the morning.

The OC said four people, including a child, were rescued alive while three others remained missing due to the strong current.

Rescue operation is underway to locate the missing individuals, the OC added.
