Chattogram Customs fails to meet revenue collection target

Chattogram Customs House has collected Tk 68,562.72 crore as revenue in the outgoing fiscal year 2023-24, but it has failed to achieve the target set by the National Board of Revenue (NBR).

NBR set a revenue collection target of Tk 77,616 crore for Chattogram Customs House. Although the revenue collection is less than the set target, the customs authorities said that the revenue earned is about Tk 6000 crore more than the previous year.

According to the information received from Chittagong Customs House, the revenue collection target is set on a monthly basis. So, the revenue collection target for July 2023-2024 financial year was set at Tk 4,789 crore. The revenue was Tk 5,472.77 crore against the target. Similarly, the revenue collection target for August was Tk 6,027 crore. However, the revenue was collection on that month was 5,711.68 crore.

Chattogram Customs House Deputy Commissioner Saidul Islam said that although the set target was not achieved, the revenue earned in the recent financial year is about Tk 6000 crore more than the previous financial year. That is positive for us. The overall revenue collection of Chittagong Customs has increased.
