2 killed in landslide in Cox`s Bazar

Two persons, including a child, were killed in landslides in two Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar's Ukhiya on Wednesday morning (July 3).

The deceased were known as Anwar Islam, 35, son of Dil Mohammad, hailed from Rohingya camp’s Block F, and another one remained unidentified.

The incident took place in Balukhali area 11 and 8 Rohingya camps of Ukhiya.

Additional Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Mohammad Samsudouzza said that rain continued sporadically throughout the day on Tuesday. It turned into heavy rain after midnight. Later, the landslide occurred early morning, leaving a Rohingya man dead on the spot.

Ukhiya police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shamim Hossain said a died due to a landslide in hilly region adjacent to Balukhali camp-8.
