Bogura prison break: 4 death row convicts put on 2-day remand

A Bogura court placed four death row convicts, who were arrested on June 26 shortly after they escaped from the Bogura Central Jail the previous night, on a two-day remand.

Bogura Senior Judicial Magistrate Momin Hasan granted the remand for the four convicts around 11am on Wednesday (July 3).

Earlier, Inspector of Sadar Police outpost under the Bogura Sadar Police Station Sujon Mia, also the investigation officer of the case, sought a 7-day remand for them.

The convicts are Nazrul, 60, of Kurigram, Amir Hamza, 38, of Narsingdi, Md Zakaria, 31, and Farid Sheikh, 28, of Bogura.

On June 26, they escaped by drilling a hole in the roof of a condemned cell. They were caught after one and a half hours by the police.

The matter is being investigated by two separate probe bodies.
