2 Rohingyas held with arms, ammo in Ukhiya

Armed police battalion (APBn) detained two Rohingya people with locally-made arms and ammunition from a camp in Ukhiya of Cox’s Bazar early Friday (July 5).

The detainees are Mohammad Jubayer, 26, son of Nur Salam, and Mohammad Shafiq, 33, son of Sona Mia.

Armed police battalion (APBn) commander Additional DIG Md Iqbal confirmed the matter.

Additional DIG Md Iqbal said that acting on secret information, a drive was conducted in Rohingya Camp-5 around 12:30 am and detained them. Meanwhile, a one-shooter gun, 3 rounds of rifle bullets, 5 rounds empty case of rifle bullets, and two shotgun bullets were recovered from their possession.

The detainees were sent to Ukhiya police station with the fire arms and ammunition.
