2 helpers killed as truck hits standing one in Rajbari

Two people were killed after a truck hit another standing truck laden with fruits in Kalukhali upazila of Rajbari on Saturday (July 6) morning.

The deceased were identified as Liton Hossain, 35, of Kushtia; and Anisur, 35, of Rajshahi. Both were the helpers of the two trucks.

According to sources, the helper of a fruits-laden truck was repairing its vehicle on the Rajbari-Kushtia regional road as it suddenly went out of order. Around 6am, a Kushtia-bound another truck hit the standing one from behind while trying to overtake it, leaving Anisur dead on the spot and Liton critically injured.

Then locals rushed him to Upazila Health Complex. But, later, Liton was shifted to Kushtia Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Confirming the incident, Pangsha Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Harun-or-Rashid said police are trying to arrest them.

The drivers, however, managed to flee.
