5 die from electrocution during Ratha Yatra in Bogura

At least five people died and 40 others were injured after being electrocuted during Ratha Yatra in Bogura on Sunday afternoon (July 7).

The deceased were known as Alok, Atashi Rani, Ranjita, Naresh Mahanto, and an unidentified woman.

Police and local sources said that a Ratha Yatra (chariot procession) was brought out from Seujgari Iskon temple. Later, the incident took place in Amtola intersection area of the city around 5:15pm, leaving at least 45 people injured.

Later, the injured were taken to Shaheen Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital and Bogura Mohammad Ali Hospital where duty doctors declared five people dead.

Bogura Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saihan Oliullah confirmed the matter.
