Child among 2 killed in Cox`s Bazar landslides

Two people, including a child, were killed in separate landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in Cox's Bazar early Thursday (July 11).
The deceased were known as Jamila Akter, 30, wife of Mohammad Karim, and Nazmul Hasan, 5, son of Saiful Islam.
Cox’s Bazar sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Rakibuzzaman confirmed the matter.
Quoting locals, OC Md Rakibuzzaman said that the landslides incident occurred at different places of Cox's Bazar due to heavy rainfall. Jamila was severely injured when a landslide hit her home. She was taken to the local state hospital where she died during treatment.
Besides, the kid was killed when a house wall collapsed due to the landslide in Sikdar Bazar area this morning.
Earlier on June 29, at least 10 people including eight Rohingyas were killed in Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar.
