Mudslide kills 2 workers in B’baria

Two workers were killed when a chunk of mud collapsed on them while excavating a pond with dredger at Sarail upazila in Brahmanbaria district on Wednesday.

The incident took place at around 11:00 pm at Bishutara village in the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Delwar, 25, son of Abdur Razzak and Mansur Ali, 27, son of Asad Ali, hailed from Mymensingh district.

According to locals and police, three workers were involved in excavating a pond with a dredger on Wednesday night. At one stage, a chunk of mud from the dredger collapsed on them.

A worker managed to come out from the heap of mud but two others died.

Later, divers from local fire service recovered the bodies of the two workers and sent those to the sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.

Emranul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sarail police station, confirmed the news.
