Swechhasebak League leader hacked to death in Barishal

A local leader of Swechchhasebak League was hacked to death by miscreants in Hizla upazila of Barishal on Wednesday (July 24).

The deceased was known as Sufian Sardar, 32, son of Jamal Sardar. He was union Swechchhasebak League vice-president.

Noman Sardar, maternal uncle of the victim said that Sufian along with his two friends were going to home around 10:00 pm on Wednesday. On the way, rival groups attacked them with lethal weapon, leaving him critically injured. On information, locals rescued him and took him to Hizla health complex first. Later, he was shifted to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital but he died on the way to hospital.

Hizla police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jubair Ahmed said that a person was killed in a clash between to rival groups.

A murder case has been filed in this regard. A suspected murder was also arrested in this connection, OC added.
