2 kids drown to death in Pirojpur pond

Two children drowned in a pond at Kumirmara Asrayan Project in Pirojpur Sadar upazila on Friday (July 26).

The deceased were identified as Jannati Akhter, 3, daughter of Yusuf Sheikh, and Taifa Akhter, 3, daughter of Khalek Sheikh.

Shariktala-Dumritala union parishad chairman Azmir Hossain Majhi confirmed the matter.

Local union parishad member Omar Faruk said that the two children were playing in the area around 10:00 am. Later, their family members started looking for them but could not found.

Around 11:00 am, both of them were rescued from the nearby pond and were taken to Pirojpur District Hospital, where the duty doctor declared them dead.
