Juvenile accused in Abu Sayeed’s murder case granted bail after 13 days

A Rangpur court has granted bail to Md Alfi Shahriar Mahim, 16, who was arrested in a murder case filed over the killing of Abu Sayeed who was shot dead during the quota reform movement in the district on July 16.

Mahim secured bail from the court 13 days after he was arrested.

Judge of Rangpur Juvenile Court Mostafa Kamal granted bail to Mahim following a hearing on Thursday (August 1) noon.

Mahim’s lawyers Jobaidul Islam and Baharul Islam confirmed this to risingbd.

On July 16, Rangpur police arrested Md Alfi Shahriar, an 11th-grader at Rangpur Police Lines School and College. Later, he was shown accused in the murder of Abu Sayeed on 17 July.

After son’s bail, Mahim’s mother Anjuman Ara Moina said, “I could not see my son’s face for 14 days. Today, he was bailed. I appeal to the government that my son will have to acquit of the case.”
