2 killed in tripartite clash in Munshiganj

At least two persons were killed and 50 others were injured in a clash that ensued among protesters, police, leaders and activists of Awami League and Chhatra League in Munshiganj town amid the ongoing ‘all-out non-cooperation’ programme against the government to realise the one-point demand of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her cabinet’s resignation, announced by the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement.

The clash broke out around 11am on Sunday (August 4) near Super Market area of the district.

The deceased could not be identified immediately. 

Abu Hena Mohammad Jamal, superintendent of Munshiganj General Hospital, said seven people with bullet injuries were brought to the hospital. Of them, duty doctors at the hospital declared two dead.

Munshiganj additional superintendent of police for Sadar Circle Thunder Khairul Hasan confirmed the matter.
