Six prisoners shot dead in Kashimpur jail

At least six prisoners were shot dead by guards when they tried to escape from Kashimpur jail in Kashimpur on Wednesday afternoon (August 7).

Subrata Kumar Bala, jail superintendent of the high-security unit of Kashimpur, said confirmed the matter.

He said that the six people died in the encounter while escaping from the prison. Besides, 209 prisoners fled the jail.

The army takes control of the jail and the overall situation is normal now, he added.
