Army vehicle torched, 17 injured in Gopalganj

Awami League leaders and activists vandilised and set ablaze a vehicle of Bangladesh Army in Gopalganj Sadar upazila on Saturday.
The incident took place in Gopinathpur bus stand area of the sadar upazila in the afternoon.
Some 17 people, including four military personnel, two journalists and locals, were injured.
Lieutenant Colonel Maksudur Rahman of Gopalganj camp confirmed the matter.
Several thousands of Awami League leaders and activists gathered at Gopinathpur stand to take an oath to bring back former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from abroad.
They blocked the Dhaka-Khulna Highway to stage the protest.
At one point, protesters started hurling bricks and stones at military personnel when they instructed the protesters to clear the road.
