Murder case filed against 2 ex-MPs, 117 others in Savar

A murder case was filed against two former lawmakers and 117 others in connection with the death of class 10 student Al-Sabur, who was shot dead in Savar during the anti-discrimination student movement on August 5.
Sahid Hasan alias Mithu, neighbour of the deceased, filed the case with Ashulia Police Station on Friday (August 16) night.
Former Dhaka-19 MP and Ashulia Thana Awami League general secretary Saiful Islam and former MP Md Touhid Jong Murad are among the accused.
Ashulia Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) AFM Sayed confirmed the filing of the case.
Other accused of the case are Ashulia Thana Awami League President Farooq Hasan Tuhin, and his father Savar Municipality Mayor Abdul Ghani, Pathalia Union Parishad Chairman Parvez Dewan, Ashulia Union Parishad Chairman Sahabuddin Madbar, Yapur Union Parishad Chairman Sumon Ahmed Bhuiyan former General Secretary of Savar Upazila Awami League Ali Haider and Ashulia Thana Jubo League convener Kabir Hossain Sarkar.
According to the case statement, on August 5, Al-Sabur went to Baipail area around 11am to buy essential commodities during the Quota Reform Movement. Around 2pm, someone informed that Al-Sabur was lying dead at the Baipail intersection. After that, Mithu along with others, went to the area and saw Al-Sabur’s body lying there.
It was also mentioned in the case statement that some Awami League leaders and activists beat and shot Al-Sabur dead.
Al-Sabur, 16, son of Nayed alias Zakir of Mahadevpur village under Mahadevpur Police Station of Naogaon district, was a ten student of Shaheen School and College at Ashulia’s Jamgora area and used to live with his family in Shimultala area in Ashulia.
