Abu Sayeed murder: Ex-IGP, 16 others sued

A case has been filed in connection with the killing of Begum Rokeya University student Abu Sayeed against 17 people, including former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun.

Ramzan Ali, elder brother of Abu Sayeed filed the case with Rangpur Chief Judicial Court on Sunday (August 18).

After accepting the case, the judge directed the Tajhat police station to record the complaint as a case.

Ramzan Ali, the plaintiff in the case, said that considering the situation in the country, there has been a delay in filing the case. I demand exemplary punishment under the law by bringing all those directly and indirectly involved in the murder of my brother.

On July 16, Begum Rokeya University student Abu Saeed led the quota reform movement from the front line. The students locked into a clash with the police, Chhatra League and Jubo League at the park intersection adjacent to the university. At one stage, Abu Saeed was shot dead by the police firing.
