A case has been filed against 108 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader and former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud over the killing of a student during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement in Chattogram.
Besides, 150 unidentified persons were also made accused in the case.
Wasim Akram, a student of Chittagong College, was shot dead during the student movement in Chattogram.
Following the killing, the victim’s mother Jotsna Akhter filed a murder case at Panchlaish Police Station on Sunday (August 18) night.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Panchlaish Police Station Santosh Kumar Chakma confirmed the information.
Other accused in the case include AL leader AJM Nasir Uddin, former education minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Mohammad Rezaul Karim, and former Member of Parliament Mohiuddin Bachchu.
According to the case statement, between 3 pm and 4 pm on July 16, Wasim was in front of Barcode Restaurant in Muradpur, where the student protest was ongoing. Under the direct and indirect instigation of the accused, armed Awami League, Jubo League, Swechchhasebak League, and Chhatra League miscreants carried out an extensive destruction. During the chaos, Wasim was shot in the chest and abdomen.
He was later taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where duty doctor declared him dead.
