Flood:
3 lakh people marooned in Feni

Heavy rainfall over the last three days and onrush of water from upstream India have triggered a humanitarian crisis in Feni.
Sources said flood water entered into localities through several sections of the flood control embankments along the Muhuri, Kahua, and Silonia rivers.
More than two hundred villages of Fulgazi, Parshuram, Chhagalnaiya upazilas were flooded till filing this report on Thursday morning (August 22). As a result, the flood marooned more than 300,000 people in the region.
Mosharraf Hossain, a dweller of Salia area of Parshuram upazila, said no one had any idea about the flood situation. There is no electricity from Monday night.
General manager of Feni Palli Vidyut Samiti, Md. Howladar. Fazlur Rahman said that more than 300,000 out of 400,000 electricity consumers in the district are now out of electricity.
Abul Kashem, subdivisional engineer for the Feni Water Development Board, the water of Muhuri river in the district is flowing approximately 85 cm above the danger level due to the incessant rains and onrush of water from upstream.
Deputy Commissioner Musammat Shahina Akter said that the authority is observing the flood situation. Coast guard, BGB, fire service and volunteers area working to rescue the flood affected victims.
