Four people die in Cumilla flood

At least four people have died in two days due to intense flood in Cumilla district. Among them, three died on Wednesday (August 21) and one on Monday (August 19).

Two of the deceased lost their lives by electrocution, one died when a tree fell on him and another succumbed to death after drowning in the floodwater.

Local sources said that Keramat Ali, 45, died after drowning in flood water at Nangalkot in the district. He died on Wednesday night. He was a resident of Daudpur area under Nangalkot municipality. Deb Das, health officer of Upazila health complex confirmed the matter.

Rafi, 15, died after being electrocuted by an electric pillar in the rain on Wednesday afternoon. He was a resident of Chotara area of the city, Zobayer Hossain, a doctor from Cumilla general hospital confirmed.

Earlier, an expatriate named Shahadat Hossain, 34, died after a tree fell on his head while fishing in the flood water at Chauddagram this morning. He was son of Kanu Mia, hailed from Sonakatia village of the upazila.

Besides, a lawyer named Sohrab Hossain Sohag died on Monday afternoon. The lawyer was electrocuted at Salauddin intersection in Cumilla city. After leaving his pregnant wife at a diagnostic center, he came in contact with an electrical wire lying in rainwater. He died on the spot.
