Kaptai dam gates opened

All gates of the dam at the Karnaphuli Hydroelectric Power Station have been opened due to rising water levels in Kaptai Lake.

The 16 spillway gates of the dam have been opened by 6 inches at 8:30am on Sunday (August 25).

The opening of all gates is releasing 9,000 cusecs of water per second.

Kaptai Water Development Board Manager, ATM Abduzzaher, confirmed the matter.
