Gazi tyre factory still burning in Gazipur

The fire that broke out factory of Gazi Auto Tyres Factory in Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj on Monday, could not be fully doused even after 12 hours.

Till the filing of this report at 10 am on Monday (August 25), firefighters are still trying to douse the blaze.

Earlier on information, 11 fire units from Demra, Kanchpur, Adamji EPZ and Kanchan fire station rushed to the spot to douse the blaze.

Locals say that after the arrest of Golam Dastagir Gazi, the former minister and chairman of Gazi Group, there has been massive looting in the factory. Hundreds of people were trapped inside at that time.

Fire service headquarters media cell official Talha Bin Jasim said that the controlling the fire or rescuing those trapped inside factory is complicated due to flammable materials.
