Fire at Gazi Tyre factory, 160 missing

A devastating fire at the Gazi Tyre factory in Narayanganj's Rupganj has left at least 160 people missing.

A total of 12 units of Fire Service and Civil Defence are trying to douse the fire.

Saiful Islam, assistant general manager of the factory, several hundred of people entered the factory at around 9:00pm. They caused destruction and looted before setting multiple buildings on fire. 

Fire Service Director (Training, Planning and Development), Lt Colonel Md Rezaul Karim said we have made a list of missing people.

Despite the efforts of 12 firefighting units, the fire was still blazing till Monday noon.

Families of the missing individuals gathered outside the burned factory this afternoon. 

Md Rezaul Karim said no dead body was found till 2pm and fire service men have rescued  at least 14 people.
