2 get death in Naogaon drug case

A court in Naogaon has sentenced two persons to death in a drug case filed in 2023.

At the same time, the court also fined them Tk 50,000 each.

Naogaon District and Sessions Court Judge Abu Shamim Azad handed down the verdict on Wednesday (August 28) noon.

The death row convicts were Liton Mia, son of Mostaj Ali Montu, of Garai Para Gorstan Eidgah area in Chapainawabganj district, and Yusuf Ali, son of Alauddin, of Charbagdanga area.

According to the case statement, on information, members of Rapid Action Battalion RAB-5 recovered 700 grams of heroin from Chataltala bridge at Saraidanga village under Patnitala upazila in Naogaon in 2023. At that time, tractor driver Liton Mia and Yusuf Ali were arrested. 

Later, a case was lodged against them under Narcotics Control Act in this regard.
