Boy dies of snakebite in Meherpur

A boy died after a venomous snake bit him in Gangni upazila of Meherpur on Wednesday (August 28) night.

The deceased was identified as Kiron Ahmed, 12, son of Rahidul Islam, hailed from Kazipur under the upazila.

According to locals, Kiron was sleeping at home. Around 8 pm, he was awakened by a snake bite. When he told his parents about it, they avoided the matter as they could not see any snakes. His parents ask him to sleep with the hope that there will be no problem. But around 11:30 pm, Kiron’s physical condition deteriorated. When he fell seriously ill, he was taken to Gangni Upazila Health Complex around 1 pm where doctors declared Kiron dead.

Faruk Ahmed, a physician at the emergency department of Gangni Upazila Health Complex, confirmed the matter.
