Attack on DMCH doctors: Sanjoy Pal arrested in Gaibandha

Police have arrested a man from Gaibandha in a case filed for his alleged involvement in carrying out the attack on doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The arrestee is Sanjoy Pal Joy, son of Ranjit Pal from Gaibandha city.

Superintendent of Gaibandha police Mosharraf Hossain confirmed his arrest to the media on Monday (September 2) morning.

He said, “Sanjay Pal has been arrested in connection with the attack incident. Legal action would be taken against him.”

Amir Hossain, an office assistant of the DMCH, filed a case with Shahbagh Police Station on Sunday over the attack on the doctors at the hospital.

A tense situation was prevailing whole day on Sunday (September 1) centering the attack on doctors at DMCH. The doctors of all public and private hospitals across the country went on a complete shutdown, protesting attack on physicians and vandalism carried out by relatives of a patient at the emergency department of DMCH.

During the protests, they were pressing home their four-point demands including the arrest and trial for the attackers and ensuring a safe working environment.
