The photo used in National Geographic magazine

The photograph of Dhaka’s Sadarghat launch terminal taken by Bangladeshi freelance photographer Mostafijur Rahman Nasim has made it to the National Geographic’s September 2024 issue.

The world-renowned magazine National Geographic regularly publishes breathtaking pictures from different parts of the world on life-environment, wild animals, science, oceans, expeditions, space and travel.

The photo taken by Mostafijur Rahman Nasim is featured in the magazine covering two pages in September issue. Bangladesh is a riverine country. Thousands of people choose every day to go to their villages in southern regions. However, the scenario become special during Eid festival. The photo depicts the mesmerizing moments of the travel.

The prestigious magazine wrote: “Usually 500 to 1,000 people travel in each launch, the during any vacation, the number doubles or triples. People take positions on the top deck and make and hours-long journey.”

While contacted, the photographer said that he is happy to portray the beauty of his country and himself through the medium of photography taken as a hobby.

Nasim will be given about Tk one lakh from the National Geographic magazine as an honorarium for the photo.

After completing graduation in English literature, Nasim, started his carrier in journalism at the English desk of Banglanews24. Later, he also took a MA degree from Department of Information Science and Library Management in Dhaka University. He is currently working as the Senior Newsroom Editor at risingbd. As a freelance photographer, he works for Solent.uk, 1x.com and is a contributor at Photobank Lori, Getty images, alamy, Shutterstock and so on.
