Power generation at Barapukuria halted fully

The power generation at the 525 MW power plant in Barapukuria of Dinajpur has been halted fully.

The only active unit of the Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant in Dinajpur was halted operations due to a technical issue around 6:30 pm on Monday (September 9).

Abu Bakr Siddique, the power plant’s Chief Engineer confirmed the matter.

It is known that Harbin Electric International, a Chinese contractor, was running the 525 MW Barapukuria coal-based thermal power plant using coal produced from the Barapukuria mine. Their five-year contract was scheduled to expire next year.
