Former Justice Manik secures bail

A court in Sylhet has granted bail to former Supreme Court Appellate Division justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik in a case related to illegal border crossing.

Sylhet Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Anjan Kanti Das passed the order on Tuesday (September 17).

However, due to other cases pending against him in different parts of the country, he has been ordered to remain in jail.

Sylhet court inspector Jamshed Alam confirmed the matter.

Court sources said that the former justice Manik was presented in court around 9:00am under tight security.

It is mentionable that the former justice Manik was apprehended by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) while attempting to cross into India through the Kanaighat (Dona) border in Sylhet on August 23.
