Section 144 imposed in Rangamati

The authority in Rangamati has imposed section of 144 following the violence between Banali locals and ethnic minority people that killed three.

Section 144 was imposed at 1:30 pm on Friday (Section 19) and will remain in effect until further notice.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Khan confirmed the matter.

Sources said that a group of hilly people brought out a rally protesting an attack on Dighinala of Rangamati in the morning. Meanwhile, rumors and excitement spread throughout the town when the procession arrived at Banarupa. Meanwhile, attackers torched some business firms there.

Joint forces including police, army and BGB men have started patrolling in the area to bring the situation under control.
