Tofazzal laid to rest beside brother

Masud Kamal Tofazzal, who died of torture for hours by some students of Dhaka University, has been laid to rest beside the graves of his parents and brother.

He was buried after his first namaz-e-janaza at his maternal grandfather's home at Shatkar in the upazila and second namaz-e-janaza at Charduani Talimul Quran Madrasa ground at village Taluk in Patharghata in Barguna on Friday morning (September 20).

After the funeral was over, the locals formed a human-chain demanding justice for those involved in Tofazzal's murder.

Milon Mia, school teacher of Tofazzal said Tofazzal was very intelligent and quiet from his school days. He respected his teachers and elders.

Abdur Rob, maternal uncle of the victim said that the killers wanted ransom after kidnapping him. They killed him when we failed to pay the ransom. We want justice.

Mentally challenged Tofazzal was beaten to death on suspicion that he had stolen a mobile phone in the guest room of Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall of Dhaka University on September 18 last. His body was taken to Pathaghata early Thursday (September 19).
