AL leader beaten to death in Lakshmipur

A local Awami League leader was lynched in Panchpara area of Chandraganj in Lakshmipur on Sunday night (September 23).

The deceased was known as Nur Alam alias Nuru Trailer, 60, son of Kala Mia. He was ward Awami League general secretary of Chandraganj union.

Police and locals said a group of 15-20 people armed with rods stormed his house around 9:00 pm and started beating him up. Later, he was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.

Arif Hossain, son of the victim, said my father was murder in a planned way due to his political identity.

Confirming the matter, Chadraganj police station Inspector (investigation) Md Mafizul Islam said the body was sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
