Dhaka’s rail link with 4 northern districts halted

Local residents have launched a hunger strike by blocking the railway tracks at Hili Railway Station in Dinajpur demanding the intervals of all inter-city trains, suspending the train movement of Dhaka with four districts of the northern region.

They started the hunger strike around 11 am on Monday (September 23).

“The intervals of all inter-city trains should be ensured at Hili Railway Station which is a long-standing demand. We have staged movement before, but it resulted nothing,” a protester said.

Shantahar Junction TIC Habibur Rahman Nayan said that the local residents have blocked the rail line demanding intervals of all inter-city trains at Hili Railway Station and modernization of the station. Two trains are stuck in it. Efforts are being made to normalize the train service by talking to the locals.
