Army officer stabbed to death by robbers in Cox’s Bazar

A lieutenant of Bangladesh army was killed by miscreants during a joint forces operation in Chakaria upazila, Cox’s Bazar early Tuesday (September 23).

The deceased officer, Lieutenant Tanjim Sarwar Nirjan, 23.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a notification in this regard.

According to ISPR, a team of the Bangladesh army was responding to intelligence reports of robbery going on in Purba Maizpara village of Dulhazra union. At around 3:00 am, a group of seven or eight robbers, sensing the presence of the army patrol, tried to escape when Lt Tanzim Sarwar Nirjon gave chase after them.

Meanwhile, the robbers attacked Lt Tanzim at this time and stabbed him in the neck, severely injuring him and leading to tremendous blood loss. Later, he was taken to Malumghat Memorial Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead.

Three robbers were detained with a locally made gun from the spot, said ISPR.
