4 children killed being hit by microbus in Kushtia

Four children were killed after they were hit by a microbus on the Kushtia-Rajbari regional highway at Kuthipara in Khoksha upazila of Kushtia on Sunday (September 29) morning.

The incident took place this morning when four children were returning home from a local maktab near their houses.

Three of the deceased were identified as Mim, 12, daughter of Md Hanif; Tanzila, 11, daughter of Palon Sheikh; and Juthi, 12, daughter of Helal Uddin. All of three were the residents of Kuthipara area. However, the fourth one could not be identified immediately.

Local union parishad chairman Abdul Kuddus said, a Kushtia-bound speedy microbus from Dhaka hit the four children while they were crossing the highway and later, the vehicle fell down on a roadside pond, leaving one dead on the spot and three others injured.

Critically injured three children were taken to Khoksha Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctors declared them dead.

Kushtia Highway Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Akul Chandra Bishwash confirmed the incident.
