Samabaya Bank`s 12,000 bhori gold missing, says Adviser

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Adviser AF Hassan Ariff said that about 12,000 bhori of gold from Bangladesh Samabaya Bank have gone missing.

The adviser said this while replying reporters after attending the 57th Annual Planning Conference of Bangladesh Rural Development Academy (BARD) in Cumilla on Sunday (September 29).

He said cooperatives are not able to standup because of the lack of cooperative mentality among them. They only want to join committees. They have no interest in development.

The property of the bank is expropriated. Legal action is being taken in this regard, he said.

PPRC Chairman Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman, Local government expert professor Tofail Ahmed, BARD Director General Saif Uddin Ahmed attended the program as special guest.
