Police, workers clash in Ashulia, one dead

A readymade garment (RMG) worker named Kawsar Hossain Khan, 27, was killed in a clash between workers and members of the law enforcement agency in Ashulia industrial area, on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka, on Monday.

A total of 30 others were injured during the clash. Among them four received bullet injury.  Workers vandalized five vehicles of law enforcing agencies.    

The deceased was a worker of Mango Tex in Tongabari area and hailed from Mehediganj of Barishal.

A number of workers from different RMG factories staged a demonstration by blocking a road in Jirabo area around 12 noon on various demands, including their unpaid wages.

At one point of the altercation, the police were compelled to fire tear shell to disperse the agitated workers that lead to a clash and counter clash between the two sides.
