2 die, 3 missing in Sherpur floods

Two people have died in Nalitabari of Sherpur in floods caused by incessant rain and the hill slopes coming down from upstream.

The incidents took place in different areas between Friday (October 4) afternoon and night.

Besides, three persons have gone missing from Abhaynagar and Namabatkuchi areas of the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Rahija Begum, 40, wife of Manik Mia and Idris Ali, 75.

Baghber union parishad chairman Abdus Sabur said one Rahija Begum has died in flood water.

Nalitabari upazila nirbahi officer Masud Rana said a person named Idris Ali died in flood water while he was crossing road.

Nalitabari police station’s officer-in-charge (OC) Sanwar Hossain confirmed the casualties in floods.
