37 more Rohingyas enter Teknaf from Myanmar

Police detained 37 Rohingyas, including children, from Jahajpura in Baharchhara union under Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar while they were encroaching from Myanmar.

21 children, 12 women and 4 men were among the detainees.

Additionally, at least 63 Rohingyas took shelter in the nearby camp after fleeing their country.

They all confessed that they are the residents of different villages in Maungdaw, Myanmar.

They were detained on Tuesday (October 8) night.

Mohammad Gias Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf police station, confirmed the matter.

The OC said 37 Rohingya including children encroached in Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf from Myanmar by trawlers with the help of brokers at night. With the help of locals, they were detained and handed over to the members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
