Sunamganj’s ex-MP Manik lands in jail 

A court in Dhaka sent former Member of Parliament from Sunamganj-5 Mohibur Rahman Manik to jail in a case over the attack on a student during the mass uprising.

Judicial Magistrate Alamgir Hossain passed the order around 11:30am on Thursday (October 10).

Mohibur Rahman Manik filed a bail petition. However, the court sent him jail fixing October 15 for the next hearing.

Defense lawyer Abdul Hamid said the former MP was not present at the scene during the attack on students, yet he was named as an accused.

Earlier, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested him from Vatara area of the capital on October 8.
