“Political involvement” in Chattogram puja mandal being checked

The police said that they are investigating whether there was any 'political connection' in the event of performing Islamic music on the stage of a puja mandap in Chattogram.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Crime) Rais Uddin revealed the matter on Friday noon (October 11).
He said that two arrested people in this incident are being interrogated. The arrested two people are madrasa teachers. They mainly had performed an Islamic ghazal and a Baul song at the request of the Puja committee’s Joint General Secretary Sajal Dutta.
The detainees were identified as 42-year-old Shahidul Karim and 34-year-old Nurul Islam. Shahidul is affiliated with the Tanjimul Ummah Madrasa, while Nurul teaches at the Darul Ifran Academy.
